Rapid City Police say an armed robbery reported at the Verizon - TopicsExpress

Rapid City Police say an armed robbery reported at the Verizon Wireless store on E. Stumer Road on June 20th did not happen. Police say a Verizon employee, 40-year old Jason Knox of Rapid City, reported than a man entered the store, pointed a gun at him and demanded cash from the register. Knox reported that he gave the suspect more than $600 before the man ran out the back door of the store. Detectives determined that money was missing from the register, but say they used surveillance video from the neighboring Walmart to determine that the robbery did not happen. Police say an arrest warrant was issued for Knox last week for false reporting and second degree petty theft and say Knox turned himself in.
