Rapp Sheet - Friday, April 4, 2014 We all remember the sweater, the sneakers, the trolley and the land of make believe, Right? And of course, the opening jingle we could never get out of our head. “Please, won’t you be my neighbor?” Ahh! Of all these things that Mr. Rogers imparted to us, the most important thing was to love our neighbor. But who is our neighbor? On Sunday as we continue our series on The Hole in Our Gospel we will attempt to answer that question. Like Mr. Rogers, Jesus called on us to love our neighbors and neighborhoods. Whether you have the Cleavers or the Osbournes living next door to you, we will take a hard look at how Jesus and the early church reached, invited and changed the neighborhoods they lived in. We will seek to uncover whether there may be a hole in our gospel when it comes to truly loving our neighbor as Jesus taught us. I also want to remind you that we will be receiving a special offering for one of our neighbors. The Simms family recently lost their home to a devastating fire. They are in great need of monetary donations to help them as they prepare to rebuild their lives and home following this loss. We will receive the offering at the altar rail as we come forward to receive Holy Communion. What an awesome way to put into practice what we are learning in our series and study. You may make checks payable to SUMC. See you Sunday! Pastor Randy
