Read this carefully. Barbara Walters quote about having a grand plan is spot-on. (Thanks Kim Klaver!) 1) The idea that I had a plan in my mind, that I was going to have this great, glorious career, is absurd. Nobody has that kind of plan -- I got on the Today show by accident. I was hired for 13 weeks as a writer on the show, I stayed for 13 years. I went to ABC and was a failure. 2) I was a total flop ... But the best thing that happened to me was that I had to work my way back. 3) Work harder than everybody.
