Reading the history of Prairie Grove. Did you know that in the late 1800s a railroad was built from Fayetteville through Prairie Grove to Summers along whats now highway 62? I also just read that they used convict labor chained in pairs. Apparently one man got so mad at his partner that he hit him (on the head) with his pick ax and killed him. They buried the dead guy in the railroad fill and carried on. o_O This happened on the hill between Prairie Grove and Lincoln. From now on, this is all I will be able to think about when Im on that stretch of road. Do you all know of any other crazy stories like this of things that happened here?
