Reading the latest edition of the Scientific American: Mind - TopicsExpress

Reading the latest edition of the Scientific American: Mind magazine. The section on breaking bad memories where researchers are selectively trying to erase drug-related associations in rats. And not too far behind, in fact probably ahead of the researchers, there will be a pharmaceutical company waiting to capitalise (pun intended) on the results. Still not convinced since starting my psychology studies in 1995 that comparing our cognitions to that of rats brings about a significant human benefit or insight into the complexity of our cognitions. The only rat who ever spoke I remember that he was from my teenage years. His name was Splinter and he featured in The Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. He was a wise rat (ok, bad joke) :p
