Real SHUTTERS with pintel hinges and hold-backs. I stole this picture from a post that Alex Wall made to point out something done right. These are REAL shutters that shut. If you look at the skinny fiberglass crap that people screw into their walls and then gauge that width against the real width of the window, they would NEVER cover the opening. Yet somehow people call them shutters instead of what they really are: fake fiberglass decorative elements screwed into the wall which dont shut and, even if they could, arent wide enough to cover the window. Thats my rant for the day. Its a real curse being an architect.
