Really naffed off when I heard that my nephew who is new to his secondary school (and has very recently lost his mum) had a telling off for not wearing the correct socks (yes, really!) Apparently they have to have the school logo on and are £5 a pair....no, dear reader this is not a public school or some snobby prep school...this is a secondary modern (or a self styled academy) in an area which, while you could not describe it as deprived, is definitely not affluent!!!
