Rebecca Peters, I unfortunately couldnt get past the headline statement: .....one indisputable fact remains: Reeva Steenkamp would still be alive today if Oscar Pistorius had not had a gun. Indisputable my backside (polite version). The gun did not kill Reeva. Oscar Pistorius killed Reeva. Take Oscar Pistorius out of the equation. Would a gun have jumped up and shot Reeva without a Homicidal Maniac to pick it up, aim it and pull the trigger four times? On the other hand, take the gun out of the equation. NOW, what would Oscar Pistorius have done - left poor Reeva alone/ Or would he perhaps have stabbed her with a knife, or bludgeoned her to death with a cricket bat? I think we all know the answers to that, so stop blaming inanimate objects for the actions of aggressive, homicidal maniacs........... Blame the killer, not the tool. Ban the killer, not the tool. Guns are used for legal protection of life every day - dont cause more illegal deaths by taking the law-abiding citizens only protection away from them!
