Recap: Monday, July 28th, 2014 Mikayla had experienced a couple seizures. At Helen Devos Childrens Hospital they told them Mikayla had craniopharyngioma. Which is a brain tumor. (Ive posted a screenshot of wikis definition of the tumor) Hers had grown to the size of a baseball. Thursday, July 31st Mikayla was scheduled to have the tumor removed. Before the surgery drs found more tumors near the back of her brain. The opperation took about 12hrs, and did damage to her pituitary gland. (Janea posted a pic of its functions) The result of this will effect her forever. She will need meds and specialists for the rest of her life. Besides that the surgery went ok. (We have posted a pic of Mikaylas CT scan before & after the 1st surgery) Tuesday, August 5th Mikayla had to have a second surgery. The drs had to remove more of the original tumor. Some of it had fallen to the back during the first surgery. This second opperation went well. Drs want to discuss radiation to prevent more from growing back. Thursday, August 7th Today we find out the tumor was not cancerous! :) Although no word on radiation yet.
