Received this note this morning: Greetings Ramona Relayers, I hope that you are enjoying your summer with your families and friends. Once again, we wanted to extend our thanks to each of you for your ongoing support for the 2013 Relay For Life of Ramona! Year to date, the 2013 Ramona Relay Community has successfully fund-raised $37,011! Your Relay recognized and honored 39 cancer survivors and their caregivers and recruited 31 community fund-raising teams! Outstanding!! In addition, your Relay event planning committee recently supported Sherie Levine, Team Captain/Coordinator for the Drille Divas, and her teammates deliver a VERY successful, fifth annual, ‘Horsepower For Life’ equestrian/car show event on June 1, 2013! Sherie and her ‘Drille Divas’ raised an astounding $5,456 surpassing last year’s event by $2,092!!!! Amazing!! The 2013 Horsepower For Life event was larger than ever and continues to grow in popularity each season! We had a tremendous turnout from the Ramona custom car/motorcycle community that kicked off the day’s activities with plenty of ‘Horsepower’ under the hood, to add to their beautifully custom painted and chromed vehicles. First, second and third place awards were given to the top vehicles that day and we would like to extend out thanks to each of the car and motorcycle owners that added to the excitement of the day! Special thanks to each of our Relay and Drille Diva team volunteers that helped coordinate such a FUN, successful event! We are expecting and even larger turnout for ‘Horsepower For Life’ next season! Bravo!! As a reminder, the 2013 Ramona Relay Planning Committee Event Chair, Juli Elliott, and several other Ramona Relay volunteers are meeting regularly to plan the second annual Ramona Relay For Life ‘Golfing For A Cure’ Golf tournament in August, 2013, at the San Vicente Golf Club! This tournament was a HUGE success last season a FUN for all!! Please help us make this golf tournament even more successful this season! Thanks! In closing, I cannot convey my gratitude enough for your time, generosity and overall contributions to the Ramona Relay For Life. The energy and community ‘Spirit’ of the Ramona Relay is unsurpassed! It is a great honor and privilege to work and partner with each of you in our quest to end cancer as a major healthcare threat in the Ramona community. Without the time and support of each Relayer in Ramona, Relay For Life simply wouldn’t exist. “Relayers SAVE LIVES!” and each of you can be proud for the difference you make in your community and our wonderful nation. As a reminder, if you are a team captain or team participant that has not met your Relay team or individual fundraising commitment for this season, we will continue 2013 Ramona Relay fundraising efforts through August 31, 2013.
