Recent Updates of Sunderbans Oil split Courtesy : Ehsan Rahman Zia Some Amazing Facts/ Updates from local newspapers on the recent Sundarban Oil Spill: 1. From yesterday, some 100 boats from the Forest dept have been deployed to collect spilled oils from the river...some 18,000 Litrs oil out of the 350,000+ ltrs have reportedly been collected upto yesterday... 2. Govt has instructed the local people of affected part of Sundarban region to collect the spilled oil from Sela river, using whetever clothes, sponge, etc they can.... 3. The Honorable Environment & Forestry Minister, His Secretary and the Moha-Porichalok of Poribesh Odhidoptor all are very bz in attending the World Climate Conference at Lima-Peru..so no important decisions from the related Ministry regarding the national crisis issue could be taken by the mid-level bureaucrats... 4. The International communities including the Development-Partner Nations and UNDP offer help to stabilize Sundarbans oil-spilled region... 5 Govts various ministry ppl have been doing countless hours of closed door meetings as to how this international collaboration be done....bt yet coundnt come to any fruitful decision... 6. Meanwhile the spilled oil spread have been far widened from 80 to in 350 Sqr Km area of the water body, due to the current and tides....and oil-laden dead dolphin, reptiles and dying animals, mangroves photo have started to surface in local media...........................
