Recently, I was reading and came across a part of Psalm 39 that really jumped out at me. I quote: “Lord, make me to know my end, And what is the measure of my days, That I may know how frail I am. 5 Indeed, You have made my days as handbreadths, And my age is as nothing before You; Certainly every man at his best state is but vapor. Selah 6 Surely every man walks about like a shadow; Surely they busy themselves in vain; He heaps up riches, And does not know who will gather them. With all of lifes uncertainties, such as accidents, diseases, murders, freak health issues, and other things, we can truly only know one thing - we are NOT promised tomorrow, nor are we promised the next minute. All we have - is today - right here - right now. I really feel that when we stand before God, the top 3 things well have to give an account for are: 1. What we did with Jesus - Without a doubt, this is THE most important thing - Did we love Him? Did we accept His love for us? 2. Way we treated others - Were we nice? Did we act honorably? Did we seek to help others? Did we act with the best interests of others in our mind? 3. Way we managed the resources that God made directly (or indirectly) available to us? - For the most part, my readers live in America - and we have unparalleled opportunities for things like healthcare, education, business, finance, freedom, resources, as well as a myriad of other things. To be honest, (in the majority, though not all cases,) any limitations we face are MOSTLY (again, not all) self-created. Not only do we have the opportunity to be, do, make, and have more, but we also have the opportunity to give, share, and bless others in ways that many of our brothers and sisters around the world could only dream about. We are all dying. However, are we all living? Thats the question that we must all answer, because if we dont answer it to ourselves, I believe that we could be forced to answer it to God one day, and Id rather have this one resolved before then.
