Recently KHD has had two dogs on two different occasions to make their way to KHD. Both these dogs had been picked up from other areas. We have had happy endings for both of these. The last dog was brought in after being picked up in Paragould. The dog a senior rat terrier with a back injury. The dog was brought into KenMoVet because of difficulty walking. The person that acquired this dog did care enough to get it to the vet. The person inquires first about just putting the little dog down because of age and injury. The person goes on to tell Dr. Embry the story of how it was found in Paragould, picked up, and she was not the owner. Dr. Embry stated that dog was very much savable and he would not euthanize the dog. Legally he could not since it did not belong to her and because the dogs injury was very much survivable. (Thank You, Dr. Embry for caring) the dog was given medication and treated. The person did care enough to pay the cost of the vetting for the dog. Dr. Embry advised her to contact KHD and she did. She came out the next day with a very scared older dog. Super sweet but terrified. I took the dog in and got it calmed down. Kayla Gozell our other A.C.O. Began searching face book pages, craigs list, and lost and found sites from the Paragould area. After much searching Kayla saw a picture of a little dog that had been missing. The dog appeared to be a match. So a message was left and within minutes it was confirmed the dogs owner had been found. The family was ecstatic. They had been searching for their dog since October the 11th. This little fur baby went out to use the bathroom and went missing. The family feared the worst and had almost given up hope of seeing their baby girl again. In no time Mollys owners was in the same parking lot as her. The reunion was amazing. The happiness and relief in that parking lot was beyond words. Molly was very fortunate that she made her way home. The pieces all fell in the right place as to make for a happy ending. Please if you see an animal and are from another town take it to the proper authorities in that town. Although these last two stories had happy endings I am sure there are plenty that do not. Any lost, misplaced or stray animals need to be taken to LOCAL authorities so every effort can be made to get these babies home. Thank you to everyone involved in keeping Molly safe and getting her back home. Good job!
