Recently Ted Cruz tried to claim that the reason why we don’t have a Surgeon General is because President Obama chose to select an anti-gun activist, Dr. Vivek Murthy, “instead” of someone “with a background in health care or medicine…” (REALLY?)... Again, “Dr.” Vivek Murthy is the challenged appointee. My message to Mr. Cruz: “You are a liar.” In fact: Murthy has a long list of credentials showing he is a health Professional… ***including his position as an attending physician at a leading hospital.*** Murthy runs a health care reform organization that has pushed for gun control measures, and he has expressed personal support for gun control. But enacting gun control is NOT Murthy’s main cause and NOT part of his public surgeon general platform. There’s not really a whole lot to explain here ---Ted Cruz either flat-out lied… or is stupid (I don’t think that he’s stupid.)---. So___, Mr. Cruz either was deliberately trying to misinform people...or had no idea what he was talking about... Either scenario seems completely possible... This is Ted Cruz, after all… So essentially Cruz tried to exploit the natural fear that we’ve seen spread across this country over a possible (though highly unlikely) Ebola pandemic to attack the president, by making it seem as if he tried to appoint someone to the position of Surgeon General who was nothing more than an anti-gun advocate… … …instead of a “legitimate health care professional”… …Which Dr. Murthy clearly is...
