Recently in reviewing our Facebook page, our staff read the negative/inflammatory statements concerning our shelter. The National Cat Protection Society is a no-kill non-profit cat shelter. We accept owner relinquished cats and care for them until they are adopted into a loving, responsible home and have been doing so since 1968. If a cat we accept in is not adopted, it will remain with us for the rest of its life. Our off-site veterinarian, along with our on-site veterinarian technicians, provide excellent care for our cats and kittens while they remain with us. Due to the limited space in our shelter, and in order to maintain the healthy conditions as a no-kill shelter, we are not able to take in every cat. If we are unable to accept a cat, we will provide suitable options for the owner. We believe the “girl” referred to in the negative comment, brought a stray cat to our shelter on October 22, 2014. She told one of our employees that the cat had a problem with one of its eyes and that it needed medical attention. Our employee told the young lady that we did not have a veterinarian on-site, and on this basis, we referred her to AAA Animal Hospital, a local low cost veterinarian hospital located within two miles of our shelter for medical treatment for the cat. As a follow up, we did not hear back from the young lady concerning the cat thereafter.
