Recently saw this episode of HGWT, had never heard the song before and the first though in my head was my nieces son David Emory Newton. ( the Kid can sing ) who is in the aTm Singing Cadets. So I look up the song and this jumped out. (It is called Dinks Song) The first historical record of the song was by ethnomusicologist John Lomax in 1909, who recorded it as sung by an African American woman called Dink, as she washed her mans clothes in a tent camp of migratory levee-builders on the bank of the Brazos River, a few miles from College Station, and Texas A&M College. Now now lets get one thing stright David may sing like Ken Curtis but Im as cool and suave as Paladin.
