Further details: The Embassy of Australia in The Hague invites applications for the position of the Receptionist/ Administrative Assistant. The position is being offered on a full-time basis for an initial fixed 6-month contract. The base gross salary for this position will be €2,266 per month. The position is available from January 2014. The terms of employment will be in accordance with the Embassy Conditions of Service and The Hague-based Staff Employee Handbook. The Embassy of Australia in The Hague will not be responsible for any costs incurred when applying for a work visa, relocation costs, nor the return of the officer and or family to their country of origin at the end of the contract. Job Description The Receptionist/Administrative Assistant position is an integral link in the service operations of the post. The receptionist is responsible for answering enquiries from the public, basic reception duties and providing administrative support to officers in the Embassy. Tasks and Functions Tasks and functions include but are not limited to: 1. Answering enquiries from the public, including by email and telephone. 2. Undertake translations from Dutch into English and from English into Dutch, as required, either verbal summaries or written translations. 3. Assist with basic administration duties as directed. 4. Assist with more complex administration duties under the supervision of the Senior Administrative Officer. 5. Assist policy officers with information dissemination, contact information and appointments. 6. Assist with invitations and responses for major Embassy functions. 7. Act as back-up to the Ambassador’s Executive Assistant during absences. Selection Criteria 1. Excellent communication, client services and interpersonal skills including fluency in written and spoken Dutch and English – Essential 2. Takes initiative and is responsive to the operational needs of the organisation – Essential 3. Ability to organise workloads, set priorities, meet deadlines and maintain close attention to details - Essential 4. Highly developed administrative and computer skills including proficiency in, or the ability to quickly learn, Microsoft Office programs– Essential 5. Valid Dutch drivers’ licence – Desirable Non-Dutch applicants must be in possession of a valid residence permit or passport entitling them to work in the Netherlands otherwise their applications will not be considered.
