Red Cross opens resource center at GCTC The American Red Cross continues to expand relief efforts across Oklahoma, with the opening of Multi-Agency Resource Centers starting today in Shawnee, Little Axe and Carney. The Shawnee resource center for the Shawnee/ Bethel Acres storms is located at Gordon Cooper Technology Center (Skylabs and dining facility) , at 1 John C Bruton Blvd. Shawnee. Hours for the center will be 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. Resources that were previously housed at the Heart of Oklahoma Exposition Center are now at the Gordon Cooper facility. Resource centers also are open at the Carney High School and the Little Axe School for those affected by tornadoes. These centers will be staffed with caseworkers from the American Red Cross and partner agencies. Those impacted by the storms can come to these centers and meet with all agencies to get assistance with short-term needs. These centers are open to those who were impacted by the tornadoes that hit central Oklahoma Sunday and Monday. Red Cross volunteers remains on the ground in Carney, Shawnee, Bethel Acres, Little Axe and Moore. Volunteers are providing meals, water, clean-up kits and other items to neighborhoods impacted by these storms. The America Red Cross shelter for this area also remains open at the Shawnee High School Athletic Center, 1001 N. Kennedy.
