A wake up call for all ages, this vintage documentary chronicles school teacher Jane Elliotts now famous social exercise with her third grade class in Riceville, Iowa. Elliott divided the students based upon the color of their eyes, bestowing upon one group privileges, and on the other, impediments. It provides an examination of the realities of discrimination as experienced by the actual students, demonstrating how quickly that children can succumb to discriminatory behavior. Originally produced for ABC TV in 1970, Eye of the Storm remains sadly potent and relevant more than 40 years after its making.
