Regarding fanaticism, Perhaps there are two ways of being a fanatic: 1) Approaching uncertainty (objective truth requiring leaps of faith) with certainty (literally or blindly adopting, theoretically). 2) Approaching certainty (subjective truth or literarily adaptable personal truth that nurtures faith) with uncertainty (faithfully or diligently integrating, experientially). I am sure that in reality, we are all fanatical in relative proportions of these two manners and that the extremes isolate or radicalize us. It could be that somewhere in the middle lies the sweet spot (most favorable balance) of fanaticism. The root of fanaticism is in the choice. Jesus Christ said that we should choose because the one who is lukewarm (undecided) is who he will spit out of his mouth.
