Regarding the victory of Adwa . . . . . What I would like to - TopicsExpress

Regarding the victory of Adwa . . . . . What I would like to say is let we be fair witnesses in the real Ethiopian history. We have to give credits for those who deserve to be given. Its obviously known that Menelik is the leader of Ethiopia by the then time. But we have to credit him only with his tangible contributions to the country. But as you see what is being done is just giving everything to him and considering him as a perfect hero with no faults. This is totally wrong in the historic perspective of judgement. As he contribute to having such modern Ethiopia with introducing to the worlds civilization in his good contribution, he is also the present source of racism and border controversial issues. It was during Menelik that we lost Djibouti because he sold it for France , then we are paying Billions of dollars for the Djibouti ports rent at this time. The issue of Eritrea is also sourced from Meneliks regime. Why he(Menelik) said no when Alula asked him to fight against the Italian troops who been in the Eritrean territories after the battle of Adwa? No answer for this! then it is clear that Menelik doesnt consider Eritrea as part of Ethiopia at that time.If he thought Eritrea is with Ethiopia, why then he didnt save it from the colonial powers of Italia? Its since the regime of Menelik we Ethiopian began to know words like Tigre,Oromo(in my modified word for the sake of moral dignity to all whom may concern, enji the Original word given to these group of people at that regime is not this word. Anyways it is understood and let we leave it), and Amara. Neither Tewdros nor Yohanes had this kind of classification. They are strongly and purely patriots of Ethiopia. And they show this in action till they sacrifice them self for the sake of their country. We have to put the negative and positive aspects as it is and with no modification when we narrate or talk about history. Let come to the victory of Adwa, yes he(Menelik) was the leader of the country. But not the hero of the battle. The first hero in the battle is ALL THE ETHIOPIAN PATRIOTS WHO TOOK PART IN THE BATTLE. And if we have to pick individual heroes, RAS ALULA ABA NEGA should be the first, then the others including Menelik himself will follow. Finally, its my view to say please let us be true witnesses of a history though we not been there to be part of the history. Long live united Ethiopia, respect and dignity for all the patriots who inherit us this Ethiopia! Báshá Déstá
