Remember those days when we were watching outside the window in the OCC house counting the trisikads as they passed by? Calling out the numbers and the operators name? The kite flying in the quadrangle with Daddy, carolling in the month of December, weekends in Sinonoc, those wonderful childhood memories that we share. You and I. Ing and Yang. Then we grow up, faced with so many of lifes challenges, me moving out from home and trying to wrestle myself in the big city with strangers while you stayed home with the folks weaving your own dreams. We parted, make a life of each own and occasionally see each other during the holidays. Then I moved away even further, continents apart from each other but we keep in touch, we bridge the gap, we always do. But you know what, I always keep those childhood memories, played the scene many times over. We both love Sams custard cake, the green mangoes sold outside MUs gate and the pinabutok. We fight, too. Yes, we do. I was not an easy person to deal with at times, I have my opinion, you have yours. We clashed but we never really make it a huge deal. You are realistic, I am a dreamer. I miss those days, those times we sat together watching TV shows. We are not big on praises or affection, in fact I cannot imagine you being affectionate. But theres always something in you that I admire, your patience, your way if caring without saying it. It just go natural. The concern, the dedication. We both want to be lawyers, my reason is twisted but yours is real yet we were thrown into different careers at the moment. I love those days when all we think about is how to go on another day in school, in making sure that we do good stuff and staying away from the bad. Then we grow up, saddled with responsibilities life has put in our backpacks. We are far away from each other. But no matter what I know that you are there for me and I am here for you. Just like the old times, just like when we were younger. You and I. Brother and sister. And today, as you celebrate another year in your life, theres nothing else I want to wish for you but a good and happy life. In your trying moments just keep in your mind and in your heart that we are family and we are here for you. My prayer is for you to be strong and to always remember that life is good, will be good and good forever. Hang in there and lift everything to God. I love you my dear big little brother and even if you are now 39, your grin when you were still six years old with your first eyeglasses will always flash in my mind. Happy, happy birthday Jeric M. Difuntorum. Keep that positive outlook burning and yes, keep that boyish grin forever.
