Remember your poor Steeds! Have your vehicle serviced before trying to overpack and overload the poor thing for Pennsic.. - Make sure the tires are in good nick, and up to proper inflation level. (whats proper for the CAR, NOT whats printed on the sidewall of the tire - dont be a ninny) And remember to check the air in the spare! - Oil changed, coolant topped off and brake fluid checked. (wouldnt hurt to find a place that does free brake checks either) - If youve been turning up the stereo to cover any unusual noises - have it looked at. Again, the ninny comment comes into play... - IF you are on the road and your beaste starts overheating - turn OFF the AC if you have it, and turn ON the heat and fan full blast. Yeah, its uncomfortable - but you just might save the engine long enough to get off the highway and to a service center. And NEVER pour cold water into an overheated engine - could crack the block. Wait for it to cool down 1st. - Balance the load on the trailer if youre towing one. You ought to be able to pick the tongue up with ONE hand and balance it over its wheels. (single axle trailer) If you cannot - youve packed it too front-heavy and need to re-distribute the load. This will help to decrease the strain on your rear suspension of the car/truck - itll be safer to pull and far less chance of blowing out your shocks / struts. If it flops onto its rear end before youve attached it to the hitch, well.. you know what you did wrong there then, eh? ;) Be safe, get there. Get home again.
