The rules of the competition are really very simple. We give you a theme to write on—this month the theme is “HKU at Night”—and all you need to do is write 200-300 words about this given theme. The rest is entirely up to you. You can be as creative (or not) as you like with it. Did you see a headless ghost wandering the balconies of the Main Building? Were you one of the sleeping hordes holed up in the 24-hour section of the library? Did you take a shine to the night time croakings of the toads in the lily pond? Your submission could take the form of a reminiscence, a poem, a short story, a photo, a journal entry—it’s entirely up to you! Theme: HKU at Night Words: 200-300 (fewer if the submission is poetry) Deadline: Monday 21st October The winning submission will also be published in the November edition of the Alumni Magazine, alongside any other submissions that particularly take our fancy.
