Reminiscing while listening to Seconds of Pleasure and I remember a particular day I stepped into his kitchen while he was at work and wrote him a love letter, dicing veggies and seasoning and stirring and sampling and singing and dancing so that when he arrived I need only send him to a shower, leave him to his fave video game to purge the stress of that day and serve him smothered chicken, collard greens, Mac and cheese, candied yams, and cornbread with sweet tea in a way that seemed to surprise him by the look on his face. After three plates, I tucked him in, proud of how soundly, peacefully he slept. Later as I cleaned and ate, I reaLized that I was in love, some 6 months after he first said those words to me and how that fact was in everything I did. So I wrote him a love letter that day in deed because though I may not always say it, its in what I do...
