ReneSola sets up South African sales office 23. Solar PV in Cape Town. ReneSolas South African expansion is further good news for the countrys growing PV industry. Romano Group ReneSola Ltd – one of the worlds largest manufacturers of PV modules and wafers – has this week expanded its permanent presence into Africa with the establishment of a sales office in South Africa. The announcement comes as the company ramps up its objectives to further develop Africas PV industry. The sales office will be located in Cape Town and will be responsible for all ReneSola sales and marketing initiatives on the African continent. Increasing our share in markets with strong growth trajectories like South Africa is a core component of our business development strategy, said ReneSola founder and CEO, Xianshou Li. Having on-the-ground sales and marketing support is key to increasing our customer base across the vast Africa market, and will allow us to respond to customer requests with greater speed and flexibility as we deepen our understanding of local market conditions. New general manager for ReneSola South Africa, Qasim Abrahams, added that the country had already displayed its tremendous potential for a utility-scale, commercial, and residential solar PV projects, adding: The solar market here has grown tremendously since 2010, sparked by the Renewable Energy Independent Power Producers Program (REIPPP) of South Africa’s Department of Energy, which is scheduled to extend to 2016. We see particular marketing opportunities for ReneSolas solar modules, inverters, and storage solutions, as well as LED lighting. Furthermore, South Africa is an ideal gateway for expanding ReneSola’s business into emerging markets like Ghana, Rwanda, Namini, Kenya, and others across the continent that are pursuing clean energy solutions to their critical energy needs. The news of ReneSola’s move into South Africa comes just a day after solar giant JA Solar announced that it is to open a fab manucturing plant in the country, partnering with local company, Powerway.
