Repost from my instagram. Joker related post. RANT. Another thing I hate seeing is the Cobain effect with The Joker. Confused? When Kurt Cobain passed away suddenly people claimed he was the best representation of his style of music ever and no one would ever surpass him, as if he were some Jesus Christ of grunge. Instantly people recognized him all-the-hell-over the place. You cant even search grunge on Google without seeing his pre-shelled mug. When in all actuality, Cobain was below mediocre at best. Nirvana wasnt even actual grunge. You know who Im discussing now? If youre confused Im talking about Heath Ledger. See, our society is so subconsciously obsessed with death that, save for those few of us who are in tune enough to get the joke and see past the bullcrap ruse, once someone dies theyre glorified on messiah levels. Suddenly every guy who saw The Dark Knight wanted to cosplay as Heaths Joker. Every woman started doing makeup tutorials for female jokers or Jokers girlfriend who they assume is some original character they came up with, or for the women who vaguely remember the cartoon of the 90s or run through games, they want to be some Heathed out Harley. Ill be frank here. Its just stupid. Heath wasnt TEH BESS JOWKER UF ALL TEIM1!!1!!!!1!!!11 at all. He was fine for whatever the hell the Nolan verse was trying to do with making Batman more...believable (because flying batplanes and nuclear bombs in the middle of cities as well as recovering from a broken back in less than even a few days is realistic) but as far as the Joker? NO. Do you know how tired I get of people asking me about why I dont have scars or a trench coat. Why I dont do that obnoxious nasally voice or have blotchy paint? Do you know how tired I am of people running up and asking me why so serious? Just stop. Alright? He wasnt that good. Jesus. ADDITION The reason I practiced his version of the joker and such first, before the others was simple, hes the easiest to jot down. Hes not complex, hes not deep, and hes not that frightening or subtle in the least bit. Hes just some creepy dude with apparent daddy issues (if thats even true) with a really poorly done past. Were given no explanation as to who this guy even is or where he came from, and when we think we have it, it gets ripped away. He just comes out of nowhere and starts shooting people. Thats not compelling or interesting. Thats just bad writing. It doesnt make someone CARE or INTERESTED in his character at all. Hes just a hunchbacked nasally voiced creep whod not last a day with the comic-side variations of Batmans rogues gallery.
