Reposting : Could you please post this for me in case there is even ONE person out there in a similar position to me? My ex and I are Australian, and broke up 5 years ago when living in Indonesia. Since then he pays what he feels like and when HE feels like it and has now threatened to stop paying support for our daughter (turns 16 in Sep) as of January next year because (get this!) I am now have TWO mortgages and I cant afford to pay you anymore. Is there ANYONE who has experience getting adequate support from a non custodial parent who chooses to live in a country that is not party to the Hague convention, as with Indonesia? I am absolutely desperate to find a way to get money to help my kids! Im so tired of not being able to buy basic life essentials, and going to sleep each night frightened that the bills are mounting and I might get evicted. Im sick of feeling guilty that for 5 years I havent been able to buy them Christmas or birthday presents. Im embarrassed that I have had to have so much help from St Vinnies, Lifeline and the Salvos just to buy food and clothes, and help pay escalating power bills!. Im basically just tired of feeling guilty that I cant give my children basic life essentials while their dad lives the life of a king. PLEASE, if anyone knows a situation like mine, put it up here and tell me what I might be able to do. Thanks in advance, I am truly grateful for any help and advice!
