Reposting an inbox we got...and remember..Education, not Attack :) Sorry but Im going to be the devils advocate. I dont believe in welfare, I have been homeless while studying to be a nurse and I made it. i am a parent as well, My partner has full care of his son, reason being his biological mother abused him and used him for welfare payments to which I dont understand as I hear its not much anyway. His leg was broken, he was malnourished, was failing to thrive, head was severely flat from being restrained, at 2 years old he was 2 yrs behind in development. he is 3 now and well ahead of his age thanks to the work myself and his father have done and giving him love, support, encouragement and seeking health services to deal with the psychological damage and how he can overcome that with the trauma hes been exposed to at beginning of life. when we rescued him his mother said your taking my money! so it was quite obvious the welfare money wasnt going towards her son. so I can see why the government has cut back on it due to the parents that abuse the system. Sorry for those who are decent mothers that suffer but since seeing what my son has been through and talking with child protection yeah my step son is not the only one. We are fighting for court battles at present and in the past year she hasnt bothered to get a job but wants her son to live with her full time, her other children are over the age of 8 so welfare is significantly decreased or as I believe gone onto newstart, and she left them with their father. I feel that single-ing out my step son was premeditated and tried to abscond with her son only and left her other children behind, she did not succeed, this is when we took the opportunity to rescue my step son as nothing could be done as we didnt have evidence which means dr visits, which we have now but needed to get him off her to get reviewed and get the appropriate care. I feel that due to the lack of commitment she has made to change she hasnt and believe she is not interested in the care of her son, she claims she cannot afford $10 to see her son in a contact centre with child protection, so I dont believe she can look after her son beings she cant do it without welfare, and with welfare she wasnt looking after him either. Hopefully my partner wins the court case, she has made it easy for us. I have a job that does mummy hours, if you search there will be jobs out there, most schools do after school care. My partner and I work it out together and work around each other, we have no family support, its just the 3 of us. Before that My partner was raising his daughter by himself and wasnt able to get any support/welfare as they didnt recognize him as a single parent, hes done well without single parent pension. I understand the cause you are fighting for, we are not a single parent family, but how is this going to stop those people like my step sons mother? I believe the bad guys ruin it for the good guys
