Republic Day Speech 2015 Respected dignitaries and my dear friends fist of all I would like to wish you a very happy Republic Day 2015. Today we are here to commemorate the day when India became Republic. On this very auspicious occasion I acknowledge this as an honour to to share my views and thoughts about this Day with you. Republic day is the annual commemoration of the day when Indian people elected the supreme head of the country, The President, and marked a change in the History. Republic Means – by the will of people, therefore, Republic Day is celebrated as the day when foreign dominion got complete sever in India and Indian people became creator of their own fate. More from this, the day marks another important event in the Indian history which is – enforcement of the Indian constitution (which was also enforce on 26th of January 1950). The day too has its historical significance of commemoration. The day was first observed on January 26, 1930 by the Indian freedom fighters as the day of Purna Swaraj (complete independence). Later on after the independence of India the constitutional assembly acknowledge the historical importance of the day and decided to enforce the newly framed Indian constitution of the very same day, and also to elect the Supreme Leader (The first President – Dr. Rajendra Prasad) on same day, making the day as Republic Day of India. Ever since the day 26th January is celebrated as Republic Day of India. Today we are celebrating 66th Republic Day of India, in these 66 years of sojourn India have achieved remarkable feat and position in the world and have made its marks in all the sphere. Every Indian owe a lot to our freedom fighters who fought for This Great nation, therefore, it is our responsibility to secure, preserve, protect and glorify the legacy of our great leaders and inheritance of this Grate Nation.
