Responsible leadership against reckless rudderless leadership: That is the choice Kenyans have to make between what Uhuru and Ruto are saying about the push for the referendum, and what those pushing for it are saying. If we all remove our tribal lenses and put every issue under the microscope of reality, Uhuru and Ruto are speaking like people that want to save Kenya from sure ruin and economic destruction. Here are some issues that need reality check. 1) President Uhuru has demonstrated that he wants money going to the counties to be increased by signing into law that 43 % of the national cake goes to the counties. 3) Based on our history, it is in everyones interest that money goes to the ground, so that local communities decide on how best to utilise funds. This will also remove the notion of marginalisation that threatens the national fabric This concept was giving regions semi autonomy in deciding development matters helped save the nation of Nigeria from ruin at a time tribal differences at reached fever pitch, and a bitter secessionist war killed over a million people. 3) However, it would be totally irresponsible for any rational person to pour more money in the current system. Any rational Kenyan by now knows that the MCAs are ganging up with Governors to literally FLEECE, ROB, and DECEIVE poor Kenyans. Systems of accountability have totally failed, and if the trend continues, we are facing sure economic ruin. MCAs and Governors have literally kidnapped devolution, and are demanding ransom. 4) Accountability systems should be set up,a) by demanding an overhaul of the MCAs system and banning the current crop from ever holding public office- and setting up very high standards for anyone to be an MCA. b) Introduce qualifications in Public Management for anyone to be a Governor. There must be more requirements other than a basic degree, since with Universities cropping up on top of bars, getting a degree in Kenya has become as easy as yawning. If we are to remove emotion, and tribal consideration- we will support Uhuru and Ruto as they seek to entrench more accountability systems- before sending in more money. Anyone that is pushing for tripling of funds to the current gang of MCAs should have his or her head examined at Mathare Hospital.
