Revolutionary elders and reactionary elders both exist simultaneously in the Black Liberation movement. Revolutionary elders train, organize, and mobilize the next generation of revolutionary community organizers, and more importantly they continue to lead the struggle until the next generation are ready. These elders are full of fire! Reactionary elders, on the other hand, are used up and burned out. They may have been fighters in years past, but now they have joined the enemy class and serve as administrators of the capitalist state, say as a Mayor or other puppet official. They are old-fashioned, with old ideals and old methods of struggle. They are so irrelevant that they steal the ideals of revolutionary elders, or even pretend to be them, just to get attention for themselves and their group. They even claim that they can lead a revolution from the Mayors or Governors office, and claim to be inspired by the sellout African National Congress of South Africa and the late Nelson Mandela. The real essence of the matter is that the reactionary elders are ice cold extinct dinosaurs, while revolutionary elders are red hot, filled with dragon fire from the rage and anger of the people.
