Reward yourself by doing rewarding,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,source @The Himalayan Times@ Corporate work life is always exciting. Most people believe that corporate work rewards are very meaningful to their personal and professional progress. Sometimes when the reward is either delayed or missed, it causes great grief and anxiety. Firstly, all these feelings are absolutely good. As one of the mentors said, “It is alright to be angry. It is bitterness that is bad.” These feelings are natural and they reflect the passion you show at work and what personal progress means to you. It also means that you need to constantly recalibrate the expect-ations regarding what needs to be done as you go forward. It is important, therefore, that one does the right things to set up for a much better reward. There are ample ways of rewarding yourself by doing exceptional and rewarding work. Listed here are six areas which will help you to do rewarding work to help yourself to get rewarded: 1. Spot and grab opportunities: Usually the top team at any corporation is working on either large issues or opportunities. Typically in most cases there would be some areas of growth which could be missed. If you do spot such an opportunity, make it count. This would help you to join the top team in contributing to ideas for growth more like an equal. 2. Team is more important than the individual: It is great to be seen as an exceptional indivi-dual. However, it is more important to be seen as a team player. Create cross functional project teams to tackle problems or opportunities rather than doing it alone. It helps to socialise the idea amongst your peer group and you will surprise yourself with the support you get. There would be more people in the company who would endorse your progress and more people ready to work with you. 3. Display even stronger commitment during adverse times: A strong commitment to deliver results during the most difficult and critical time is always more valuable to the company. It is a great time to stretch oneself during such a time. While you will be testing yourself and gaining skills, you will be seen as a person who is eager to take on extra load. This would be regarded as a positive factor while considering promotions and new assignments. 4. Be an idea person: Display strong creativity by suggesting a lot of ideas. It helps in being seen as someone who is positive, happy to contribute and suggest new ways of working. 5. Raise positivity about the company: Cynics and doubters never built anything. Being generous in raising positivity about your company helps to build morale around you and be seen as a positive person. However, let this not stop you from giving constructive feedback too. 6. Share learnings: Keep abreast of what is happening in your area and be ready to share learning with the larger team. Not only will you be seen as a great learner but also as someone who is taking the lead in creating a stronger organisation. More importantly, most companies look at both results and the mindset of a person in identifying someone for leadership positions. When you start doing impacting work with such a positive mindset, your peers and superiors will start to look at you with great positive expect-ation. It is then only a matter of time when exceptional rewards come knocking your way.
