RideLondon 2013 Sat Aug 3 - Sun Aug 4 FREE On Saturday August 3, from 9am to 4pm, eight miles of roads around central London will be closed to regular traffic in the RideLondon FreeCycle, enabling cyclists old and new, young and old, to take a spin around town. It costs nothing to join in, and more than 50,000 cyclists are expected. Sail past Buckingham Palace and the Houses of Parliament, pedal on to St Paul’s and the Tower of London, and take in entertainment along the way, including bike polo and live music (yes, some of it will be played on ‘musical bikes’, if you can picture that). Under-fives can try out balance bikes, while Green Park will be the pitstop if you require a repairman. Later the same day (at 5pm) there will be a Grand Prix event around St James’s Park with races to watch featuring Olympic Team medallists and handcyclists. On Sunday August 4 (12.45pm start) the RideLondon-SurreyClassic will send 150 of the world’s top professionals from Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park down into the wilds of Surrey and back to a finish on The Mall. There’s all this and more to enjoy across the RideLondon fest. By the Monday we’ll have forgotten what cars look like.
