Rigged Voting Machines, Deleted Names on Voter Lists and even dead - TopicsExpress

Rigged Voting Machines, Deleted Names on Voter Lists and even dead people on Voter Lists is the ultimate way for a Corrupt Govt. to save face in an election they were bound to lose. The EC really needs to get its act together and whichever Govt. comes into power next needs to revamp the election process to sort these issues out. Even in Karnataka the fact remains that a lot of people who registered their names on the list within the last 2 to 3 years never got a permanent voting ID card and unfortunately I too was included on that list as I was earlier registered in Maharashtra. When I went to the BMP office in my area, on the 4th of April, I was shocked to find more than 10,000 voter cards scattered on the floor and no voter list present. Anybody could pick up any card they wished and misuse it. When I confronted the person in charge they said that they had just received a bundle of cards from the Head Office without any list and it would only arrive by the 10th of April and I should come back then. So I did and they still could not get me my card as the scattered cards were now in no sequential order and close to 50 people are rummaging through the stockpile. One of them told me that it was his 5th consecutive day here and he had still not found his card. It makes me wonder when people say Indians dont want to vote when in fact it should be that India does not support its voters properly. I did however manage to go to the polling booth with my Voter ID Number (Got that from the website), got a temp card and voted. My age however associated with my name on the site was 19 (even though I applied correctly) and I will probably have to go through another long winded process to fix that as well. A lot of persistence and determination in India will surely get you to your goal but I am not sure that every person in society will be so driven to handle such adversity. It is time that we get a fair and transparent election process as the birthright of every Indian to choose their representative in Parliament. Jai Hind!
