(Right. Barcelona have a transfer ban in place. FIFA are now saying that LS7 might be allowed to train. All very strange. Almost as if it was masterminded from the start, or should I say, with 10 minutes to go in the Uruguay game?!?!) FIFA Begin Suarez Ban Back Peddling Ahead of Barcelona Transfer Oddly enough, one of the only things Suarez isn’t banned from doing is moving to another club, and he looks to be doing just that with Liverpool confirming that “productive” talks have been held with the Catalan club. What’s even more surprising is that he’s looking likely to move to a side that had a transfer ban in place. With Liverpool striker Luis Suarez’s impending move to Barcelona inching closer and closer, FIFA have begun to back-peddle on the severity of the Uruguayan’s ban with an official from football’s world governing body confirming that they’re unable to prevent the player from training during his four month ban. Whether or not this means that the embattled 27-year old will be able to join in with the squad at training sessions remains to be seen, but this gradual softening on their hard-line stance towards their totalitarian sanctions following what appeared to be a well choreographed apology has baffled almost as much as it’s intrigued. As more details regarding his ban continue to leak out, Claudio Sulser, who is in charge of FIFA’s disciplinary committee, looks to have backtracked on one of the more controversial clauses and has contradicted the ruling by confirming the striker will be able to train while still suspended from all football related activity. “No you can limit those rights to the player, because it would be disproportionate,” he said before quickly shutting down any further conversation. “This is still an ongoing case and an appeal has been filed, so I prefer not to give my opinion. When the committee was analysing this case, one thing I mentioned in my capacity as the chairman is we don’t need to impose an exemplary sanction, we need to have justice and reach the sanction in a very severe case.” Oddly enough, one of the only things Suarez isn’t banned from doing is moving to another club, and he looks to be doing just that with Liverpool confirming that “productive” talks have been held with the Catalan club. What’s even more surprising is that he’s looking likely to move to a side that had a transfer ban in place. It’s no wonder football is so corrupt… paisleygates
