Right! Time for my annual Christmas message. Remember this much, not everybody likes Christmas. Some find it incredibly lonely, as they may be seperated from their loved ones. Rhiannon is off to her mom Fiona s for it on Sunday, and it will be the first time ever that I wont see her on Christmas day, so dont ask me how mine was, as honesty can offend. Not everybody is off work for the period, so remember your manners at all times. If youre not happy that the pubs are packed and the service might be slow, tough! Bar work is tougher than those of you who have never done it realise. Doormen are not to be toyed with, nor are they there to be played with. They have to put up with hundreds of drunken arseholes who think they are hilarious over the holidays, dont be one of them. It might end badly. It really is nothing personal if you are the comedic genius who is really just an unfunny annoying cunt. The people behind the counters of your favourite take aways are under pressure likewise, and do not, under any circumstances deserve the vile racist abuse I witnessed first hand last St. Stephens night in Big Bites. Fairytale of New York does not mean it is time to jump around like an epileptic in a strobelight. Some people dont really like idiots who think theyre the new Michael Flatley spilling their drinks, which they paid for, not you, and besides, it really is a shit song. Most importantly, and I always hate adding this part year after year, but, bear in mind, the Garda Síochána have families of their own, and I would be fairly certain they have no desire to meet yours, late at night, or any time, to let them know you were in a terrible hurry, seemingly, and lost control, maybe, of your car or motorcycle, and sadly wont be home for Christmas afterall, or ever again. Do please, drive carefully. Take your time and arrive alive. Finally, to all of those overseas, especially Lisa, Mike, Mark, Jayne, Sinead, Gareth and Mary and extended families, you are so much better off where you are. It Has gotten no better here.
