Right now the cost of living in Liberia is very much high. Many are unemployed because there are no jobs available. School workers are the most ones that are badly affected as school is one of the major sources of little income generation in Liberia. So too is the same with us older disabled boys and girls living out of the Rehab. The school on the Rehab was the one and only means of being compensated for the voluntary service(s) we offered. Schools have been closed down now since three months ago and will continue for a little over six months or close to a year because of the current ebola situation in our country. Government does not care about us disabled and does not even meet our needs either. There are no means of getting any other job right now to at least earn some few dollars to solve some other little problems around us. Rice in the home may be available but getting some few dollars to buy the soup/sauce, ingredients and some other necessities are just very difficult. A teacher in another school said and I quote If government does not do something about the reopening of schools right now to get back my job, Im afraid that I and my family might end up in different ways. If such a man who is able to stand on his feet and has the possibility of moving around can make such a statement then what more about us disabled who have no means of getting anywhere especially those that are confined in wheelchairs. Please donate through the JCADF whatever little you can afford in this direction or please help make the necessary contacts.
