A few years ago, when Roger and I were in Burundi, Africa , Roger was preaching at a church. He preached an amazing sermon about forgiveness to a people that went through the genocide. He was preaching to Hutus and Tutsi tribes. When it was time for alter call Roger invited people to come down the aisle who need to forgive those whose families were murdered in the genocide. People were crying. All of a sudden I heard a very loud haunting cry from a women sitting in the back. I went over and hugged her. I asked an interpreter to find out what had happened to her. Her baby was murdered in the genocide. I just held her as she grieved. Now I know that haunting sound of a cry from every part of my body. I cried that cry this morning. Roger held me. That is why I thought of that day in Burundi, holding the grieving mother who lost her child. I never thought I would be in her place.
