Ambassador Mauro Vieira was recognized yesterday by the World Affairs Council – Washington, DC with the Distinguished Diplomatic Service Award on behalf Brazil’s diplomatic corps in the United States. Upon receiving the award, he underlined that “Brazil is honored to be the recipient of the World Affairs Council – Washington, DC’s 2014 Distinguished Diplomatic Service Award. The award reflects the increasing importance of Brazil-U.S. relations and is a tribute to the traditional and long-standing ties between our peoples. It is also an important recognition of Brazil’s achievements as a vibrant democracy that learned from its own experience that economic growth, development and social justice are closely intertwined. On behalf of the Brazilian diplomats serving in the United States, I would like to express our deep gratitude to the WAC-DC, whose global education, international affairs and global communications mission priorities we strongly support.”
