Right, now the first part is done and dusted. We had it already on - TopicsExpress

Right, now the first part is done and dusted. We had it already on May 7th when we voted. Now for the interesting second part. And I think you’re going to like this bit the most. South Africa has been strategically divided into very small areas that often make little logical sense. Midrand, for example; where I lived for a quarter of a century and most of my life, is split in half. In reality I know, because I lived there, and love there, and who I am today is mostly because I existed there; that Midrand is one huge beautiful emerging community. Why politics divides Midrand is beyond my naturally moral and ethical understanding. It’s like they were trying to create a fight among a bunch of cool cats who just dig each other. But the solution is so, so simple. And all it depends on is a firm belief in democracy: The Western Cape have made their mark and said loudly that the DA is their party. Just because another group of fantastically wonderful people +-1,000km away in KwaZulu-Natal think differently does not make them wrong. Let’s all scrap that stupid idea from our minds right now please. Your belief or opinion is no better than anybody else’s; ever. Belief is our justification for having passion; and passion is the basis for all of our hope. And hope is, what I think; all of us are really living for. All the difference in results does is display that there many different communities all hoping for slightly different things. It means that two distant communities on opposite sides of, what happens to be the same beautiful continent, need different things. And they’ve voted differently because they are different and both groups are perfect and nobody should ever make miniscule of one another: ever. To quote one of the most inspiring people I’ve ever had the privilege of learning from. One of my few hero’s I’d actually love to meet: “Look at your hands Different colours representing different people You are the Rainbow People of God” - Archbishop Desmond Tutu And remember that change is inevitable. A single individual in their 20’s might prioritise public transportation and fast Wi-Fi communications as their priority. The exact same person in their 30’s, happily married with two wonderful kids might prioritise education and healthcare as their new priorities. The exact same person, just in a different time. So my very simple plan is this: The IEC have done a wonderful job and I must congratulate them and thank them. Yes there were hiccups, and that is inevitable given that they were confined to using an archaic system of etched ballot papers and manual counting; instead of the obvious, cheaper, and far more reliable automated and computerised system that 14 years into the new millennium; obviously should have been adopted over a decade ago to eliminate tampering and fraud and corruption. But the results, if you actually hone into the many graphical resources available; and excuse the margin of blatant error is quite clear. We South Africans are “different people”. And yes, we will want different things at different times in our lives so we, ourselves are not even constants. What this past, wonderful election has clearly given us is geographic clarity. It’s given us all a snap shot of who we are and what we want where we live. And it’s probably the most intensely accurate survey we’ve seen of ourselves and the people around us in our communities since the 1994 elections; when all we all wanted was freedom. (And didn’t realise that in a capitalist society freedom has a price.) My simple premise is this: It’s not fair that one community can stand together and agree on a vote and still get stuck being governed by another governance they not only never chose; but blatantly refused. That’s not a representative democracy. That a mass DICTATORSHIP. And If I missed the status change in South Africa when we moved from a capitalist democracy to a COMMUNIST dictatorship that provides jobs and free houses for all; all managed and operated by the STATE; then I’m poorly informed and deserve your harsh correction. So, what’s my oh so simple solution? Log onto News24 or the IEC’s Elections.org.za or whatever reliable source you prefer. Then check who your community voted for and read up on the desires they represent. And realise and accept who you are and where you are. This is a crucial step. Then. And this is vital. We need all the parties we voted for to open a bank account and give us their banking details. If, for example, you fall within an ANC district (and I will only use DA and ANC as examples because they were the opposition parties. If your district is EFF or IFP or whatever please just play along). Then let the ANC give you their bank account details. And play fair, if you’re in that district pay your taxes into their ANC account. Remember to copy SARS with your contribution so they are aware that you are still paying your taxes willingly and wholeheartedly (and keep a copy for yourself). You are still paying taxes because you believe in contributing a portion of the life you toil away doing something you probably don’t even like, just to make South Africa, the country you love, filled with people you love; as perfect as it can be. The only thing that’s changed is that you’re contributing directly to the party your community (and quite probably you) have openly confessed to supporting. So let the ANC with its 62.15+% win get their taxes from the majority of South Africa. They are the majority winners and congratulations to them. And let the scraps from the only 22.23% of South Africans who voted DA and fall into the tiny DA geography deposit their taxes into the DA’s bank account. And let’s make our democracy a real, actual, honest democracy. Let that tiny 22.23% try to get by just on their supporters contributions. Because what I propose is that if you fall into an ANC territory for example, that all of that 62.15% populous’ money you collect can only (mainly) be spent in areas where the ANC won the vote. And exactly the same thing applies to the pathetic little 22.23 percentile of DA supporters. Let their tax contributions support policing and transportation and health care and education and other social investments; but only in DA areas. We are a different people. Only a fool would think we’re all the same. And this last election has proven that we are different; and adamantly different. We are all one and we all want the best for South Africa and the people around us, and for every creature and plant that we are blessed to live with. But we are different and because we all love we are all beautiful. And we need to work together. Yes there are areas who clearly voted for open and free communication. And yes there are parties who clearly admire censorship. This past election has given us a clear geographic representation of what we desire. A basic infrastructure must exist so we all need to work together. The roads and rails and data networks still need to be laid down regardless. The only difference will be that some areas will have more stations and other areas will have more Wi-Fi hotspots. We still need to work together, now more than ever to establish the basics. All that should differ between us are the features. And apartheid is gone thank goodness. It’s long dead and buried. We can move anywhere we want to anytime we want to. If we’re single and career ambitious and we find ourselves somewhere that suits us perfectly. Then a month later find ourselves madly in love with a child on the way we should be able to move next door and join a community that represents us for who we are at that point in our lives. Remember that South Africa is less than 9% white. The DA is not the ‘white’ party. Our vote had nothing to do with racism anymore. It had everything to with hope and promises. Let’s fund our respective parties separately and allow them to fulfil their promises properly. And waiting 5 years for the next election is just stupid. If you live in a divided area like Midrand and you’d like to become the natural singular community you really are then everyone in the DA section should be allowed to vote anytime you like to join the ANC as one. That’s what democracy should be all about. (Or vice versa of course). And if in a few months’ time you change your minds and decide perhaps that the ANC is doing a better job then it’s your prerogative, actually your right to change your mind and to change sides as a community, without having to geographically relocate, from the DA to the ANC (or vice versa or course). Democracy is all about representation and the concept of a single leadership with a single bank account is not only wrong, but a defiance of what a democracy actually is. It’s allot more like a dictatorship. We South Africans live in a democratic capitalist society. The opposite of democracy is not communism; it’s dictatorship. And the opposite of capitalism is communism. Terms very often confused by the ignorant and illiterate. Yes 62.15% of South Africans have said they don’t mind Zuma steeling money for his own personal benefit while his people live in squalor. But over a third have said they despise it and it repulses them and that third of the populous should never be forced to finance anything they believe to be immoral. Only the ANC supporters who find his behaviour acceptable should finance him. There is no one size fits all in a democracy. There is no singular winner. That’s why we vote and that’s why our parliament has 400 seats; so that every major group in South Africa is represented. Now let’s direct our finances accordingly and truly empower who we’ve nominated to govern us. And let’s reserve the right to change our minds at any time we like. It’s not defeat. It’s not a deterioration of our characters or worth. We always change. It’s the nature of who we are and we should reserve the right to change whenever we want. Let us be represented democratically the way we’ve clearly said we want to be represented and let us contribute accordingly to that representation for our development. And let us welcome others into our collective point of view and accept others who choose to leave it. And let us always remember that we are all working together toward the same goal, just differently; and always have respect for one another; coupled with our love for each other. And let’s make this happen now. Parties, give us your respective bank account details immediately so at the end of this month when we get our hard earned pay cheques we can deposit our tax contributions accordingly. (Just remember to keep a copy and send a copy to SARS so they know you’ve done your civic duty.) Magic could still happen beautiful people. Let’s empower our elected governance accordingly and make it happen.
