Rincon de Guayabitos Sunday, September 22. Decided to wait to get the transmission oil changed until the expert opens Monday am. The young Mechanico I took it to this morning asked me too many questions for me to feel comfortable to allow him to change the tranny fluid. Things like” how do I get to the engine? “ How much oil does it need?” and “Oops, Sorry I didn’t mean to do that.” My stomach started getting upset, so I told him to stop and gave him 30 pesos. He actually looked more relieved than I did. Other than that we are ready to hit the road sometime Monday. Today we built a false floor in one of the compartments where we will be able to hide our computers…just in case…when we are visiting archeological sites and grocery stores. The hidden floor looks really good and should be good for any possible smash and grab. In all of our travels throughout Mexico, we have only had one break in, but it was a big one (cameras and computers), so I get a little paranoid. The one bothersome item is that with all the moving, cleaning and lifting, I’ve strained my back. We will see how my back will hold up under long distance driving on Mexican highways. Tomorrow we will go through our check list and then it will be ontheroadin Mexico.
