Rishav Bagchi tagged me to post top 10 cricketers I have seen playing cricket. So here it goes 1. Sachin Ramesh Tendulkar ( Who else but the man who gave me the reason to love this sport. Winter of 1991 when I saw him for the first time till now its a better love story than Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge ) 2. Brian Lara ( The Prince of Trinidad . Rarely a batsman gave as much pleasure as him. Truly a genius ) 3. Shane Warne ( Wizard of Oz. The spin king. He revolutionised the art of leg spin bowling. It was him who made leg spin bowling such an entertaining act. It was because of him despite being a left hander I tried to bowl leg spin modelled my action on him ) 4. Wasim Akram ( The sultan of swing. During my initial years of watching cricket I experienced his class when I saw bowl those 2 unplayable ones to dismiss Allan Lamb and Chrish Lewis in 92 world cup final ) 5. Jacques Kallis ( Gary Sobers of our times who could do just anything. He is worth 3 players in the side ) 6. Allan Donald ( White lightning a childhood hero. I loved his smooth action pace and zinc oxide cream on his face ) 7. Rahul Dravid ( He was the pillar on which the golden generation of Indian batting revolved. He personified hard work dedication hunger to reach at the top ) 8. Ricky Ponting ( He was not a popular character for us Indians but there is absolutely no doubt about him being one of the greatest test batsmen ever ) 9.Dale Steyn ( He is someone who doesnt need any assistance from the pitch. There is always an expectation of a magic ball coming from his hands ) 10. A B De Villiers ( I have rarely come across sich a talented and innovative batsman as him and also he is an outstanding fielder. An incredible cricketer ) Few like Virender Sehwag , Aravinda De Silva , Mark Waugh , Glenn Mcgrath , Steve Waugh , Waqar Younis , Mohammad Azharuddin narrowly missed this list. Its really difficult to top 10 among so many great cricketers. I would like to nominate Prosenjit Banerjee Sarbajit Mitra Reetabrata Ghosh Abhi Bhattacharjee Pushpal Ganguly Shubham Palit Chayan Sarkar Abhishek Chakraborty to name their list.
