Roadrunner Recap: Soccer, Baseball, Volleyball, LAX Girls Soccer defeated Morton West on Saturday 2-0. Morton is always a great game and is hard fought. Marri Gragnani ’14 came up with the game winner, putting it in the back of the net early in the second half. Midway into the second half a hand ball was called in the box and Kelly Renehan ‘16 put a solid shot past the keeper to make the game 2-0. Peggy Masterson ’15 secured the game with a great game in the net earning a shutout. This was a big win before heading into a 4-game week. Nazareth Baseball rebounded from their first defeat of the year by beating St. Francis 11-0 in 5 innings. Western Illinois bound Peter Minella (1-0) pitched a complete game shutout allowing 3 hits while striking out five. Matt Flach, Drew Dunker, Brandon Bossard and Ryan Kramer collected two hits apiece to lead the 13 hit attack. Nazareth’s Varsity Girls Lacrosse team defeated Regina High School 15–5. Scoring for the Roadrunners: Madison Lozanoski 5 goals & 3 assists, Allison Kurek 3 goals & 2 assists, Katie Mahoney 2 goals & 2 assists, Abbigail Meehan 2 goals and Alexandra Plenys, Rose Roche and Kyler Pacyga with 1 goal each. Ashley McGee had 5 saves while Ali Nix and Kaitlin Ryczek had great all-around play. On Friday night the Boys Varsity Volleyball Team defeated Thornton Fractional North in straight sets 25– 16, 25–13 to remain undefeated. Notable contributions include: Brady Ryan with 14 assists, Allen Bell with 3 blocks and Dan Hubert with 6 kills. Come join the excitement as the boys host DeLaSalle in the Rooney Center tonight at 6. Congratulations to the Freshmen Boys Volleyball Team for their 3rd place finish at the Romeoville Tournament on Saturday. The freshmen finished 2nd place in pool play, defeating Joliet West (25–20, 25–13) and Romeoville (25–8, 25–19).
