Roadrunner Recap: Volleyball, Track, Softball, LAX, Baseball, Soccer Congratulations to the Boys Varsity Volleyball Team on winning the Thornton Fractional Tournament this weekend. The Roadrunners showed their dominance by defeating their opponents by an average score of 25–16. Will Cullen led all attackers. Steve Patchak & Dan Hubert were defensive stalwarts. Dan Gregor, Austin Brown & Allen Bell combined their efforts for 33 kills & 11 blocks. Brady Ryan contributed 35 assists in the Championship match. Zach Blair was a solid contributor with a 2.10 passing rating. Special mention goes to Will Ernst. Due to ACT testing Will was moved from his comfortable DS position to #1 setter. His selflessness and team first attitude were noted and lead to a perfect 6 – 0 pool play record. Boys Varsity Volleyball remains undefeated with a 9 – 0 record. Girls Track was in action Saturday at the Bulldog Relays hosted by Riverside/Brookfield. The 4X100 Relay Team of Francesca Zeno, Meg O’Kane, Taylor Gonzalez and Devinne Love finished in 3rd place. Later in the day, freshman Maeve Roach was joined by Love, Gonzalez and O’Kane to finish in 2nd place in the 1600 medley relay. The lady runners will return to action this week on Wednesday at Marist and Thursday at Lemont. The Varsity Softball team jumped out to an early lead and never looked back in their 12-4 victory over St. Ignatius on Friday. Mary Grace Chizewski went 2-3 with 5 RBI and Danielle Bartodziej hit a 3 run home run to fuel the offense. With the win, the team moves to 7-5 after going 4-1 on the week. Varsity Boys Lacrosse Team played conference rival Marian Catholic on Saturday night. The Roadrunners fell behind 1–0 after the first quarter, but rebounded to win 8–3. Boys Lacrosse heads to Maine South today and will travel to Notre Dame in Niles on Wednesday. On Friday, Nazareth Girls Varsity Lacrosse defeated Carmel High School 15–9.
