: Robbery suspect captured On January 16, Shasta County Sheriff’s deputies from the City of Shasta Lake division, were dispatched to a theft of items from the Rite Aid, 5350 Shasta Dam Blvd, Shasta Lake. Loss Prevention personnel reported Dennis Ultsch, 20, a transient, had stolen several items including cell phone charging accessories, clothing, and ear phones from the store. Loss Prevention contacted Ultsch outside the store and attempted to question him regarding the theft. Ultsch brandished a folding “box cutter” type knife toward the Loss Prevention personnel in a threatening manner and fled the scene on a bicycle. Deputies searched the area attempting to locate Ultsch. A short time later, Ultsch was identified and contacted while riding his bicycle in the area of Shasta Dam Blvd. and Washington Ave. Deputies located the stolen items and the “box cutter” type folding knife on Ultsch’s person and backpack. After being questioned, Ultsch admitted to committing the robbery. Ultsch was also positively identified by Loss Prevention personnel during an in-field show-up. Ultsch was arrested, transported to the jail and booked on the above charges.
