Robert Gene (Bob) Phipps, a lifetime Sapulpan, passed away March 11, 2014. He graduated in 1956 from Sapulpa High School. He played on Sapulpa’s Championship football team in 1955. He was the youngest of seven children born to Dewey and Winifred Phipps in Sapulpa in 1937. He was a welder and retired from Crane Carrier after 28 years. He was also retired from the Navy Seabee Reserve with 22 years as a Petty Officer First Class, specializing as a steelworker. He married Juanita Smith in 1959 also of Sapulpa. They had three children; Bruce, Vicki and Sandra as well as five grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. He was an OU football fan and a Bowler in Sahoma Lanes Senior League. He is preceded in death by his parents Dewey and Winifred Phipps; brothers Dewey Phipps, Jr. and wife Betty Mae of Denver, CO; Dennis Phipps and wife Bobbie of Shreveport, LA; sisters Dixie Tomberlin and husband Lowell of Sapulpa; Margaret Perkins of Tulsa. He is survived by his wife Juanita, of the home; son Bruce Phipps and wife Lisa of Sapulpa; daughter Vicki Vaughn and husband Oswald of Ripley, OK; daughter Sandra Tifft and husband Daniel of Sapulpa; brother Frank Phipps and wife Linda of Tulsa; grandchildren; great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews in Louisiana, Arkansas, Colorado and Wisconsin. The family wishes to extend a special thanks to Green Country Hospice of Tulsa. Graveside Services will be held at Green Hill Memorial Gardens at 10:30 on Friday, March 14, 2014. Visitation will be held at Green Hill Funeral Home on Thursday, March 13, 2014 from 12:00 pm until 9:00 pm. The family has entrusted the services to the Funeral Directors at Green Hill Funeral Home.
