Robert Price Pre-Trial Conference 09-25-2013 This accounting is strictly my opinions and thoughts on what happened in Court this morning. I want to make that perfectly clear. This is my understanding of what happened. We started the morning off with the Judge asking both sides why he had not heard back from them on the questionnaire that will be given to potential jurors. It was agreed that the questionnaire is acceptable with additional question during the jury selection process. Anyone with strong feelings towards cops or animals will automatically be disqualified from being a juror. The word needlessly was defined by the judge as: without justifiable excuse based on what a reasonable person would do in the same situation. This will probably be further defined on Monday. Price will be able to use self defense as an argument. No character evidence will be allowed to be introduced. This includes whether he has had dogs or volunteered at animal shelters and his commendations while he has been an officer will not be able to be introduced. There will be a witness testifying that Price has received animal encounter training through Commerce City. The command review that was done after the investigation by Douglas County will not be introduced at trial. The trial is expected to last 3 to 5 days. The animal control officer and the other CC officer that were on the scene will most likely be classified as “hostile” witnesses and the prosecution will be able to ask leading questions of those officers. It was also brought up that the AC officer was planning to invoke her 5th Amendment rights; Will be interesting if she does. Lastly, Sisson (Defense Attorney) challenged the appearance of Jake in the court room. Jake is a Service Animal and the Judge has once again shot Sisson down. This time however, Sisson will face the Department of Justice for his cruel and callous actions. He blatantly pointed Jake out and being his handler pointed me out. I have filed a complaint against him. Outside the courtroom I did confront him with Jake’s tags and he had the nerve to tell me that he did not mean any offense and he only brought it up in defense of his client. Price is afraid of a 12.5 pound dog in the courtroom it appears. Jury selection starts on Monday with the case being heard as soon as the Jury is seated.
