Robin Williams death hits really close to home. Depression is so - TopicsExpress

Robin Williams death hits really close to home. Depression is so insidious. When my father died, whatever else was wrong with him, I know that his depression was a major reason he was in the shape he was in. I inherited that as well. That evil little voice never goes away. That feeling that the whole world is laughing every time you fail, that every person knows what a monster you are- it takes so much energy just to fight a battle no one else ever sees. The takeaway is this. Robin Williams was one of my heroes. Not just because he was so funny, or because he was such a great actor, or even his humanitarian work. He was a hero because he fought that battle for 63 years, and still had the energy to do all of the rest of the things he did that made the world a little better, a little nicer, and a lot funnier. Ill say it again. He was a hero. Oh Captain, my Captain! Farewell.
