Robo, Syrup, Bo is causing havoc on our streets! We need to educate ourselves about this drug so that we can save our children and save some lives! On Wednesday, November 19th, join Alameda County Supervisor Nate Miley’s Office, Youth UpRising, the Oakland Public Library and members of the community for a FREE screening of the short documentary “Prescription Drug Abuse in Oakland.” When viewing the film, you will uncover what youth and law enforcement experts have to say about the misuse and abuse of the popular prescription drug promethazine with codeine, often referred to as “syrup”, “lean” or “bo”. Although a drug historically abused in many parts of the country, its recent over-glorification in rap and pop songs has influenced a lucrative underground economy and attracted youth in Oakland to experiment with the drug posing significant health risks.
